A DETAILED LOOK AT THE PROJECT

WHAT IS IT?

The Center for Futbol Excellence is a safe haven where we can reach the families of Santiago with the Good News of Jesus Christ through futbol (soccer) ministry.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE CENTER?

Staffed by Christian futbol players, in partnership with Ambassadors in Sport, the center will provide professional level training in futbol, free of charge to the marginalized youth of Santiago. Guiding them through a path of Faith / Futbol / Future (FFF) we seek to help them grow in all aspects of their lives through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT FAITH/FUTBOL/FUTURE?

Using the techniques honed over 20+ years of futbol ministry we plan to partner with Ambassadors in Sport to integrate futbol training with faith-based life instruction. We seek to offer additional help in the areas of educational tutoring, English as a second language, and nutrition assistance if needed. But the main focus is leading people to Christ through futbol.

HOW WILL THIS WORK?

A self-sustaining ministry, the Center will provide full-time employment for at least 2 Chileans. Maintenance and salaries will be paid through the rental of the playing areas and the sale of food and beverages. Coaching and futbol instruction will be conducted by 2 fulltime missionaries and volunteers from the community that partner with the center. Educational instruction will be provided by volunteers from local churches and local missionaries. Interns from the US will also participate in the center and training alongside of the local workers.

WHAT IS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THIS WORK?

The purchase of the land, and the construction of the facility. We estimate that this project will cost approximately $175,000 - $225,000 US to complete.*  In addition we seek to raise monthly support for a local Chilean to work full-time on the coaching aspects of the ministry.

*Estimated cost based on initial investigations and dependent upon actual location.

WHAT DOES THE CENTER INCLUDE?

The center includes a full size artificial turf field with lights that can be divided into at least 4 (possibly 5) futbolito rental fields. It also includes a covered, internationally approved, regulation futsal court (5 vs 5), two small 2 vs 2 courts that can also be used for futbol tennis. The center also includes a building that will house classrooms, a small office, a kitchenette, an area to sell refreshments, and sleeping quarters for personnel (for security reasons). See graphic layout at the beginning of the page

HOW IS THE WORK INITIALLY FUNDED?

We are looking to build a team of individuals, churches, and organizations that have a passion for this ministry and seek to marry that passion with reaching people for Christ in South America. This team would provide tax-deductible donations to purchase and build the facility. This team, and other individuals, would also help us to raise an additional $500 per month to ensure that one fulltime Chilean missionary is involved with the ministry.

WHAT ARE THE LONG TERM PLANS?

Extend the futbol ministry throughout South America using the Center as the headquarters for the planning of team ministries, prison ministry, outreach events, and individual development. The Center will also be used as a recruiting base for Christian Colleges in the United States to draw from. With a Christian College education the student/athletes can then pass along the Christian legacy of the program to others through their service at the center.

WHO IS LEADING THIS PROJECT?

David Dwyer is the project leader for this vision. David and his family joined IberoAmerican Ministries in 2007 and currently reside in Maipu, Santiago, Chile. David has played futbol since he was 5 years old. The Lord eventually used futbol to lead David to Judson University one of the nation’s most successful Christian futbol programs; changing forever his relationship with Christ. In 2010 David initiated a partnership with Ambassadors In Sport (www.aisint.org) to begin a futbol ministry in Chile with a vision to grow it throughout all of South America.

These are fotos from a local Chilean artificial turf complex near our home; these are futbolito fields for playing 7 vs 7

We would like to build 4 or 5 of these fields for ministry and rental to sustain the center

The court with the orange surface above is a great example of a certified international futsal court

The surface of the court is important and a cover over the court will allow for year round use no matter the weather

There are many options for covering the court; this rendering is a good example
