Inspiration Through The Word of God

These are some of the promises from the Word of God that we read that lift our spirits and draw us closer to our Lord. We hope they fill your spirit as they fill ours. Of course we begin with our theme verse...it is such a blessing to take so much comfort in 28 words!

Proverbs 3:5,6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.

2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Matthew 16:24-26
24. Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself

and take up his cross and follow me.
25. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.
26. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can

a man give in exchange for his soul?

Philippians 3:7-21
7. But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.
8. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of

knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them

rubbish, that I may gain Christ
9. and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but

that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.
10. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his
sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
11. and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.
12. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on

to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
13. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do:

Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
14. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in
     Christ Jesus.
15. All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think
differently, that too God will make clear to you.
16. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.
17. Join with others in following my example, brothers, and take note of those who live according to
      the pattern we gave you.
18. For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of
     the cross of Christ.
19. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame.
Their mind is on earthly things.
20. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the

      Lord Jesus Christ,
21. who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform

our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Matthew 28:16-20
16. Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.
17. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.
18. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and

of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20. and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with

you always, to the very end of the age."

Colossians 1:9-14
9. For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking
God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.
10. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him

in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,
11. being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great
     endurance and patience, and joyfully
12. giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the
     kingdom of light.
13. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the
     Son he loves,
14. in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Ephesians 4:1-6
1. As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
2. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
3. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
4. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called—
5. one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
6. one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Deuteronomy 6:4-7
4. Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
5. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
6. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.
7. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along
the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
